Brian and Allison Sain founded Rhoddie Bicycle Outfitters in 2015 to share their love of cycling by providing an inviting atmosphere and excellent customer-focused service in Blowing Rock, NC.

Our passion for cycling along with our love for Blowing Rock and the Blue Ridge is at the heart of what we do everyday at Rhoddie Bicycle Outfitters. We believe this is one of the greatest places in the world for cycling, and we want to connect everyone - from trained cyclists to recreational riders - to the many cycling opportunities our region has to offer.

  • Owner / Custom Build Manager / Mechanic / Sales

    Since a young age, Brian has loved the freedom and adventure a bike offers thanks to day trips cycling along the Virginia Creeper Trail and New River Trail! He enjoys riding bikes of all disciplines and has a love of training & racing as well as recreational riding. He has had a wrench in his hand since the age of 16 and had the pleasure of working in several NC bike shops since the age of 19. Brian's current bikes are a 3T Racemax Italia w/Campagnolo Ekar, 3T Strada Italia and Scott Scale RC.

  • Owner / Marketing Manager

    Allison finds great joy seeking two-wheeled adventures with a focus on enjoying time with other riders and taking in the many gorgeous sights & long-ranged views. When exploring, Allison can be found enjoying gravel roads on her 3T Racemax Italia or trails on her Pivot Les SL.

  • Service Manager / E-Bike Tech / Mechanic / Sales

    Matthew​ competed professionally in triathlon for over 10 years, focusing on Olympic and Half Iron distance events domestically. His career highlights include representing the USA at the Pan-American Championships and racing in the Bundesliga Triathlon league in Germany. Beyond his athletic prowess, Matthew is a certified EMT and a Level 2 USA Cycling certified coach, enabling him to prepare you for any event, from a gravel grinder to an Ironman triathlon. Matthew’s current bikes are a 3T Strada, 3T Extrema Italia and Pivot Mach 6.

  • Mechanic / Sales

    Jeff Marcum joins the Rhoddie team from West Virginia. His exceptional attention to detail is evident in all of the gorgeous woodworking details he crafted around our shop, including our workbench, point of sale, shelving, and desk in the fit studio. When he’s not working at Rhoddie, he operates his own company, Vanguard Wood Flooring and Custom Designs, where he constructs custom furniture. Jeff enjoys riding mixed surface roads on his Cannondale Topstone Neo and shredding Rocky Knob and the Grandfather District of Pisgah on his Cannondale Habit!

  • Professional Bike Fitter / Mountain Bike Coach / Mechanic / Sales

    Since moving to Boone, NC in 2015, Lauren has been a pillar of the local cycling community. She dedicated three years as the local ambassador for the Bell Joy Ride program, a major initiative to encourage women's participation in mountain biking. Her commitment continues through her two-year term on the Boone Area Cyclist board, regular trail work, and advocacy for cycling initiatives. Through her company, Trailblazer OT, she formally partners with Rhoddie to provide expert bike fitting and mountain bike skills coaching.

    Outside of Rhoddie, Lauren is an occupational therapist working in both outpatient and hospital settings. Her preferred local rides are Rocky Knob Park and The Grandfather District of Pisgah. As a general rule, she thinks all summer rides should end at a swimming hole. She enjoys hiking, running, swimming, and spending time with her husband, Travis, and their dog, Draper.

    Since moving to Boone, NC in 2015, Travis has become a cornerstone of the local cycling community. He led the charge for four years as president of the Northwest NC MTB Alliance (a SORBA Chapter), dedicated to trail preservation, securing land access, and developing new trails across the federal, state, and local lands of Northwestern North Carolina. He continues to support the community today through dedicated trail work. When he's not at Rhoddie, Travis is a Director of Sales Operations in the Industrial Automation space. His other volunteer passion is as a ski patroller at Appalachian Ski Mtn. His favorite local mountain bike spots are Rocky Knob Park and the Grandfather District of Pisgah. His most recent cycling achievement was successfully completing the Michigan Coast to Coast Gravel Grinder on his 3T Racemax!

    We are incredibly grateful to have Gary Rohlke, a true local treasure, on the Rhoddie team! In his retirement, Gary dedicates significant time to our community, whether he's helping with local charity rides and fundraisers or serving with the ski patrol at App Ski Mtn. When he's at the shop, Gary is always working to streamline our systems and make Rhoddie better. During the cycling season, look for him leading the weekly Monday Night Ride on his Cervélo Rouvida!

I was stranded at my hotel until I found Rhoddie Bicycles on Facebook. I called them up and spoke with Brian. The shop wasn't even officially opened yet (their grand opening was in a few days). They were still busy setting up the shop, but Brian took the time to examine my bike, ride home to his house to get supplies, and fix my bike in about 45 min. It was a huge life saver!   • "My experience with the Rhoddie Bicycle shop was amazing. I am on a weeklong cycling trip with a small group to ride the mountains surrounding Blowing Rock. I shredded my rear derailleur cable on the second day climbing Snake Mountain. I was not a happy camper that night and was worst casing about my trip possibilities. I showed up anxiously at Rhoddie first thing the next day and was immediately taken care of. Brian had to spend extra time extracting the cable and got me back on the bike that morning for my ride. The cost was way below what I expected. The shifting was perfect and Brian explained what happened and how to prevent it in the future. Two of my companions have also used Rhoddie’s with the same experience. I am definitely going back to Rhoddie in the future when I’m in the area. Cannot be beat!"

He has hunted and researched and happened to run across a GT Sensor Carbon Pro bike that Rhoddie's had just posted. He called and spoke to a staff member there and he was treated so kindly despite the fact that he was a kid. He set up a time to look at the bike for today and he and my husband were so impressed with the staff. They were patient attentive, and eager to talk with my son about the bike and the custom parts that had been added. I've taken this bike from Boone North Carolina to Charlotte North Carolina to finally Blowing Rock North Carolina and I have to say that Matt at Roddie Bicycle Outfitters by is the best bike shop in the state if you have an issue on an e-ride bike. In Boone and Charlotte the only thing those shops did for me was charged me more money for a diagnostic care. I can do diagnostic care. So if you want your e-bike serviced correctly with the right shop and having excellent relationships with his dealers then why not head out to Blowing Rock North Carolina and giving Roadie bicycle a shot you will not be disappointed."
